Taking Care Of Business
Posted on 03.03.2008 20:31 by Jethro
I wrote in a previous blog how I take my sleep very seriously; I take every precaution to ensure I sleep like a comatose patient. Well, this afternoon, I was woken suddenly by a burst gas pipe of the bodily nature. It was lucky Paula spent the night at her place, because the offending matter would have been cause for instant dismissal.
I didn’t know whether to light a match or call the gas company for a hose and a few dozen cylinders. In cases like this, I find 3 trips to the business end of the house works a treat. Once the assault was finalised, I went to work like the team from CSI to determine the cause. It was very odd because usually I am the best at solving crimes like this. I can even predict which foods will cause the most damage. But on this day, I drew a blank; I had eaten nothing that could have done this to me. It still remains a mystery. Unbelievable? Believe it!
In poker news, I can’t win anymore. I am thinking of quitting and joining a cult. Probably one that believes strongly in suicide. In the last two online tourneys I have played, I have been beaten by AQ all in pre-flop vs. my AA and the best was my KK vs. 22 on a 2K9 flop. I used to get angry at being 4 outered or less. These days I only get upset if it’s a one outer. This goes without saying, I love to hear other people’s one outered stories. I can relate. If I hear another bad beat story where it’s not a one outer, I will hurt you.
A movie which really cheered me up today was Superbad.
It was a breath of fresh air to see a comedy which didn’t star that goofball Steve Carell, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell or Jack Black. I know I’ll get a ton of e-mails telling me how great these actors are and how wonderful their movies are. Before you write the e-mail, realise you are wrong and throw out all their movies from your DVD collection.
Perhaps it’s the loser in me, or maybe it’s just me, but I love an under-dog story. The acting is awesome and the script is gold. There are no cliché lines and if there are, they were meant to sound funny, not lame.
Superbad is awesome, go see it and send me fruit baskets for recommending it.
10/10.
